Foiano della Chiana
Foiano della Chiana is a small town near the Chiana plain south of the province of Arrezo. It is a historical town and traces its origins to an ancient medieval castle, which was situated on a hill. It later became a part of the Fiorentina Republic. In the twentieth century it was one of the protagonists of the Fascist Regime and suffered a few reprisals. It has few famous churches, which are worth a visit. They are S. Domenico and Michele Arcangelo, S. Maria della Fraternita and S. Francesco. They are ancient churches are very beautiful and have some amazing artworks. Today it is a town of great agricultural importance producing wine and oil. It is also a major area for cattle breeding.
