Montevarchi
Montevarchi is a typical Tuscan town, in a valley abutting the Arno River. It is a prime example of town planning during the Middle Ages. It is elliptical in shape and cut by a longitudinal axis. Giovanni Verniani is one of the chief architects who designed the town. There is a modern art museum dedicated to the works of Ernesto Galeffi and another museum featuring Tuscan artists throughout history. One unique feature to this town is the fossilized remains of elephants and other animals found in the former lake bed where the town rests. As with any other town Montevarchi has its classical piazzas, churches, famous restaurants and shopping complexes.
