Barberino Val d'Elsa
Barberino Val d'Elsa is a village, which lies between
Florence and Pisa. The hills are full of vineyards,
olive groves and dotted with ancient cypress trees.
This village is steeped in history and legend. It has
preserved much of its medieval structure with its walls,
gates and towers. Almost every hill has a church, a
castle, a villa or at least a chapel on top. The Pilgrims
Hospital and many farmhouses, which have been restored
with a lot of care, are also well worth a visit. The
landscape is perhaps among the most beautiful in the
area as it belongs to the Chianti Classico belt famous
throughout the world for its classic wines.
