Greve in Chianti
It is a small town in Chianti, which lies in the valley of the river Greve. It is almost equidistant between Florence and Siena and this lead to its commercial development from the fourteenth century onwards. The oldest part of the town is the market place. The local markets are generally held in an unusual triangular piazza (square) lined with porticoes and bustling with activity till today. The parish church in town is dedicated to San Croce. The Museo di Arte Sacra (Museum of Religious Arts) has been opened in the former convent of San Francesco. There are a few beautiful castles close to Greve, which produce famous Chianti wines.
