Impruneta
Impruneta is an ancient town situated on a hill between
the valleys of the Greve and the Ema streams. It was
earlier called in prunetis or in pineta meaning within
pinewoods as pine forests surrounded the town. Today
it is possible to see pine trees interspersed among
the olive groves. The church of Impruneta is renowned
and the Feast of Saint Luke takes place every year on
the eighteenth of October. It is also famous for its
pottery kilns and the manufacture of terracotta whose
earliest manufacture in the town dates to the year 1098.
Flower vases generally made in large sizes and generally
ornamented are very popular for their beauty and durability.
