Montelupo
Montelupo is situated between the Montalbano ad the
middle course of the river Arno. It is a town with medieval
origins. Some of the places of interest include the
Archaeological Museum, in the Municipal Palace, the
Medici Villa del'Ambrogiana and the Priory of San Lorenzo.
Montelupo has been considered as the center of ceramics
in Tuscany throughout the ages. During the fifteenth
and sixteenth century the ceramics were indeed splendid
and spectacular. Every year in June a festival is held
in which workshops, performances, exhibitions and artistic
events are held as part of the International Ceramic
festival. Montelupo, the city of ceramics has the Archaeology
and Ceramic Museum. It was opened in 1983 and is located
inside the ancient Palazzo de Podesta.
