Montespertoli
The borough of Montespertoli has played a crucial role
in history due to its road network, which linked Florence
to Siena and Volterra. There are many churches and other
buildings dating to the Middle Ages as well as some
from the Renaissance. Some of the important places worth
visiting are the Church of San Michele a Castiglioni,
the Montegufoni Castle, the Church of San Lorenzo a
Montegufoni , the Sonnino Castle, the church of Sant
Andrea, Poppiano Castle and the Sanctuary of Santa Maria
della Pace a Bottinaccio. It is both a Wine Town and
an Oil Town. It has been famous for its extra virgin
olive oil through the ages.
