Panzano in Chianti
Panzano is an ancient Roman settlement in the heart
of the Chianti region. It offers a panoramic view of
the Chianti region as you walk along its ancient roads.
Innumerable vineyards and ancient olive groves as well
as beautifully maintained farmhouses surround it. From
the twelfth century the village outside the castle walls
developed as an important market place. Parts of the
Panzano Castle are still present today especially the
semi rectangular walls. The parish church of Santa Maria
has also been partly restored with one of its bell towers
remaining intact till date. It is world famous for its
butcher Cecchini's fiorentina steaks”.
