Rignano sull'arno
Rignano Sull'arno lies along the south bank of the
river Arno. It was most probably a Roman settlement.
It has a few churches, which are worth visiting. They
include the modern parish church of the Immacolata Concezione,
which has famous paintings, reliefs, a beautiful nave
and sacristy. The parish church of San Leolina is an
ancient church in this town. The church of San Andre
with its neo-Romanesque façade is alo worth a
visit. The Villa Gamberaia is an ancient stone cottage,
which has been renovated. The Castle of Rignona was
built in 1086. However it has gone through a period
of decline with parts of it being incorporated into
rural buildings in the town.
