Rufina
Rufina rises around thousand metres above sea level
in the heart of the valley of the river Sieve. It lies
east of Florence. It has medieval origins. It has a
very beautiful countryside with quaint churches and
farmhouses. It is predominantly an agricultural area
filled with olive groves and vineyards producing very
good Chianti wine especially the Chianti Rufina. There
is a traditional food and wine festival called "Bacco
Artigiano" which is held annually in September.
Another interesting place to visit is the Museum of
the Vine and the Wine at the Villa di Poggio Reale,
which showcases the entire process of the cultivation
of grapes and the manufacture of wines.
