San Polo in Chianti
This pleasant village lies between Mont Masso and Monte Muro. It is very famous for its centuries old iris farming. Each May an International Iris festival is held in the village. The rhizomes are used in the perfumery and cosmetic industry. Irises from San polo are exported to many countries in the world. There is an ancient church near the village. It is called the parish church of Miniato a Rubbiana. It dates back to 1077 and has a beautiful fresco. There are also many vineyards in and around san polo as it belongs to the Chianti wine-producing zone. The Castello di San Polo is in Rosso.
