Scandicci
Scandicci rises on a hilly area between the river Arno
and the Pesa Valley. The origins of the town date back
to the Roman times though some evidence also shows its
importance as a trading town in the Hellenic Age. The
Saint Salvatore in Settimo Abbey is perhaps the most
visited tourist spot. Some of the other impressive ancient
churches worth a visit are S.Guisto an ancient church
restored in the sixteen hundreds, S. Maria a church
with beautiful terracotta and glass interiors and the
church of S.Martino alla Palma which is just outside
the town and was built in the tenth century and renovated
in the seventeen hundreds. In the late nineteenth century
the Municipal Palace and Piazza Piave and Piazza Matteoti
were constructed.
