Siena
Siena, which lies in the heart of Tuscany, is one of
Italy's best-preserved medieval towns. It is built on
three hills and surrounded by well-preserved walls.
It is an excellent showpiece of gothic architecture.
It has the Piazza Campo, an unique square in the world
as it is shell shaped with scalloped edges. Some of
the beautiful monuments worth visiting include the Torre
del Mangia, the Palazzo Publicco, the Duomo, the church
of San Agostino, the church of San Domenico and the
Palazzo Salambeni. There are many beautiful museums
exhibiting, all styles of art including Gothic, pre
renaissance, local siennese and contemporary art. The
world famous Palio is an integral part of the Siennese
