Lef was founded in 1902. It moved
in 1941 but since it started it has always
specialized in publishing and selling
books on religious subjects; it has a
rich historical archive. About ten years
ago the publishing house moved to other
headquarters, leaving the sales department
in Via Ricasoli. Now the bookstore is
an irreplaceable reference point for those
involved with urban architecture, graphics
and design. It has a vast assortment of
books and journals in these and other
fields, including computers and informatics,
as well as many publications on Italian
and European art, especially the most
significant contemporary artists and trends,
for tourists who visit the nearby museum
of the Accademia di Belle Arti.
