Salimbeni was established in
1948 from a used-book shop of the thirties.
Originally Salimbeni dealt mainly in used
schoolbooks. Later it specialized in art
and antique books, with a good deal of
its business conducted through the mails.
After being damaged by the 1966 flood
it returned to publishing, with special
emphasis on local history and art.
