His
first tryst with the fashion world began
when he began painting on T-shirts, the
huge popularity of which made Roberto Cavalli
set up a factory to do the printing. In
1970 he forayed into painting on skin, the
first anyone had ventured into it. Designing
for both men and women he is the chosen
designer for celebrities like Jennifer Lopez,
Lenny Kravitz and Mary J. Blige. His styles
include strong colours and vibrant prints,
his trademark being animal prints and extensive
embroidery. Associated with chic and glamour
he has gone a long way since his Florence
Art Academy days. His first fragrance, Roberto
Cavalli Parfum, introduced in 2002, which,
sensual like his clothes, has undertones
of sandalwood, citrus, rose and musk. With
stores in places from Milan to New York
his foray into that fashion world has left
a blazing trail. His designs can be seen
on the popular sitcom "Sex and the City"
and have come to represent bold, strong
and pulsating notes. |
