Bilance Caretti or the House of the Balance was started in 1870 by Cornelio Carretti which dealt with antique balances and slicing machines. Handed down through five generations of traders, Vittorio Carretti is now the present owner who manages the trade with new and antique balances and slicing machines. Unique with a combination of antique methods and new technology, this trade has dwelt on the restoration of antique patterns. Unchanged by the tides of time, the shop still remains on Via Nazionale, 120/r, where you can see an array of cherished traditional machines and other professional machinery and equipment in chromium plating and red enamel. These are still used in grocery shops and in traditional restaurants.
