"Since 1899, respecting
the past tasting the present", has
been the motto of Antica Trattoria Angiolino
on Via Guelfa, 138/r. In the late spring
of 1899, Rodolfo Dei started this quaint
trattoria in the Santa Novella area. Known
for its wholesome, homely food at reasonable
prices, the artists and crafts people
whose workshops were close by always ate
at this trattoria enjoying the authentic
ribollita soup and a fiasco of Chianti
wine which was a regular feature. At the
end of the Great War, Mr. Dei sold the
trattoria for 3000 lira to Guiseppe Radicchi
who transformed it to the typical Tuscan
restaurant. Angiolino has been functioning
as a popular place made famous with the
traditional dishes of Florence and Tuscany.
Many of the Italian celebrities and personalities
were also seen there. Today, Antica Trattoria
Angiolino stands as a traditional heritage
of the Tuscan cuisine, its famous wines
and a history of the food culture of Florence.
Walk through its cool cellars and see
over 250 labels that run the gamut of
the popular Tuscan wines. |
