started off as a lift attendant in London's
Savoy hotel before making a meteoric rise
in the fashion world. GUCCI has himself
etched on watches, bags, footwear and
clothes. Since 1921 he has been a name
to contend with in fashion circles when
he opened his first store speacialising

Emilio Pucci di Barsento, an Italian aristocrat
and Italian Air Force pilot by profession
became one of the biggest sportswear designers
completely by chance after being inspired
by ski slopes. After 14 years of service
to the Air Force his name could be found
on purses, nightgowns, bathing suits,
luggage, lingerie, perfumes, wine and
even on a flag that the Apollo 15 crew
carried to the moon. »

first tryst with the fashion world began
when he began painting on T-shirts, the
huge popularity of which made Roberto
Cavalli set up a factory to do the printing.
In 1970 he forayed into painting on skin,
the first anyone had ventured into it.

the chosen designer for celebrities like
Jennifer Lopez, Lenny Kravitz and Mary
