Testimonials
Dear Meaghan / Sharmila

What a wonderful holiday we had…everything about it was fantastic. Our holiday plan was to see Florence in the day and then come back to the quiet and beauty of the Tuscan Hills in the evening…..and this is just what we did. The Villetta was beautiful. In fact one of the days we spent most of the day just relaxing in the lovely, private walled garden. Hamid doing his Taichi in the garden and then out of the garden in to the swimming pool was his idea of bliss.

You were completely right in your description. We had easy access by train to Florence as the station was about a 10 minute walk away. What absolutely amazed us was that from the same station we could also get to Pisa…seeing the Leaning Tower was astonishing.

What can we say? We believe we had the perfect holiday a beautiful peaceful place to stay, easy access to Florence which was what we wanted, a surprise visit to Pisa which we were not planning on but how could we miss such an opportunity, and in the town below the villa a great little restaurant which we went to a few nights. Not forgetting the weekly market (did that come once a week? ) where we bought great fresh fruit and vegetables.

All of this without a car. Hamid wanted a holiday where he did not have to drive and this was perfect.

A big thank you to all of you as you were so welcoming and so kind and friendly to us.

Antoinette and Hamid - August 2007

Hi Meaghan,

I would like to let you know just how much we enjoyed our stay in Villetta. Please pass on our appreciation to everyone who made our stay "unforgettable". (especially Mr & Mrs Brogi). It was even more beautiful than the photos on your web site. Our time in Tuscany was very special and the convenient location and privacy of our villa was perfect. We loved the local restaurants, (and liked the fact that we were eating with the locals and not a lot of tourists) We could walk into the local village for evening meals, (the best meals we had in Italy)...and watch the glow bugs in the estate gardens on our return. Most convenient for day trips to Florence only 15mins on the train (2 stops). The accommodation also proved to be the best value and quality of all our European trip. (it was certainly down hill after Villetta.....)

The only regret I had was not spending a day at one the cooking classes...ah well there is always next time.

Thanks Again and our warmest regards Trudy Phillips and Jon Straiton, Batemans Bay Australia (Stayed May 2006)

Ranjani,

First I would like to thank you for all your help in arranging our holiday, everything went as planned, well as planned as anything can be in Italy. From our arrival to our departure the holiday was wonderful.

Villetta was a wonderful villa, the ideal size for our family, with almost everything that you could wish for. The garden was pretty with apple and olive trees, and two squirrels, which would use one of the olive trees as a short cut across the garden. We could hear a woodpecker, but never did see it. Throughout the estate there were vines, olive groves, peaches and apples. The estate was a wonderful location for all the properties. Mr and Mrs Broggi were great hosts and nothing was too much trouble for them, how many other hosts would insist on showing you the way to the local supermarket and local restaurants after settling you into your villa? The swimming pool was a good size to cool off in and have some fun with the children, again Mr Broggi made sure that the pool had plenty of floats and toys.

You must remember that the estate is a working estate, but everyone was pleasant and friendly, and never interrupted your holiday even though they were doing their daily business. We walked through the estate at night, in the dark, without light. A small torch may have been handy!

We recommend trying the estate’s wine and olive oil, both excellent value for money. The local supermarket, Iper-coop had everything that you required, for more personal touches try the local shops.

It was great to have use of a television with satellite TV channels but be aware that some channels on the continent may not be suitable for children at any time of the day. My advice is to work out the channel numbers you want to watch e.g. BBC World, and only use those.

The villa is in an excellent location for the local trains, La Signa is only about 15 to 20 minutes gentle walk away, across the Arno. We were a little hesitant of the check-in process for the tickets, but don’t be afraid to ask the locals, they really are very friendly and everyone we spoke to were always eager to help. Push the ticket into the yellow machine and listen for the print; it is as simple as that.

The trains were excellent, punctual, clean and safe, we never felt threatened on them, and we often used the later trains to return home. Obviously, taking simple precautions helped. Florence was 18 minutes away, much easier than driving into the city and finding somewhere to park, we know we did this many times last year. Santa Maria Novella (Florence) is the centre of the rail network for Tuscany, a big, busy station, but the best place to find your way around the train network. It is worth queuing at the information desks to purchase tickets to other major cities (book at least 5 hours in advance and you receive a discount). From Florence we went to Rome and Venice, two beautiful cities, and places we intend to visit again in the future. Each time the staff at Santa Maria Novella were helpful and polite, even when we made one late for his lunch on a warm and sticky August day, it would never happen in Britain. A little bit of Italian will go a long way, but once again everyone seemed to speak excellent English.

As every good tourist guide states, go off the tourist route for food and eat where the locals do, its not always possible, but we found if you have the time it can be a blessing, for the food will be excellent (even if sometimes a surprise) and good value. One tip, make sure you eat before 14:30 in the afternoon as it can be difficult to find local restaurants open after this time. With children an hour or two out of the beating sun and rest for weary legs can be worth its weight in gold. La Carraia is the best Gelateria in Florence, well in our opinion anyway!

As the saying goes “when in Rome”, so do try and see the local areas, there are some beautiful towns and countryside in Tuscany, Florence, Sienna and San Gimignano to name a few. Yes, it is right the Italians do not have breaks on their cars, only accelerators! Simply take your time, make sure you have local maps, plenty of fuel in the car and enjoy the trip.

We would like to thank Mr and Mrs Broggi for a wonderful holiday and hope to return one day.

All the best Gwyn.

Ciao Meaghan!!!!

Hope you are doing great!

First of all, I just have to say that we had such a wonderful experience at Villetta... everything about it was better than I could have imagined. I still can not believe I was in Tuscany, in our own villa, spending 2 fabulous days learning to cook from such wonderful chefs and were hosted by such a gracious host (that would be you!!). We raved about the experience all thru Rome and I don not plan to stop! Thank you!

Ciao Meagan and Elizabeth,

Just a little note to say how much we enjoyed our stay at the Villa Villetta. The villa was just perfect for a "belated" hooneymoon. Both of you were more than helpful for both driving directions and reservations. Two of the best experiences were the Tuscan cooking class at the villa and the wine tour at the Verrazzano castle. Lisa and Maurizio were great teachers and chefs. Gino was a riot at the wine tour. I have told people who might be travelling to Italy soon that both are a must. Both Patty and myself feel that we have made new and wonderful friends in Italy. We are looking forward to a return trip. Hope everything is going well.

Patty and Dave, USA

Also, one tip for travelers is not drive around the outskirts Firenze for two hours as we did. TAKE THE TRAIN. lol
