The villa can be traced to 1321, when it was conferred as dowry to one of the daughter’s of the Degli Albizzi family. During the XV century, the villa played host to the literary and philosophical gatherings hosted by Filippo Valori and Marsilio Ficino; the latter residing there for 15 years. Under the arcades of the loggia one still can see plaques in remembrance of this era, including portrait paintings of Marsilio Ficino and Plato. Over the centuries, the villa has undergone a series of renovations, however it has remained true to its 14th century design.

At 800m there is the bus-stop that takes you in the city. The return walk is up hill. A car is recommended.
